Knysna 440

Designed by Angelo Lavramos, the Knysna 440 is a lightweight offshore catamaran with a displacement of only 9 tons, allowing the vessel to remain agile in light winds and effectively cut through swell.

Built in 2005 by Knysna Yacht Builders in South Africa, this 13.45-meter catamaran combines blue water pedigree with custom handcrafted joinery that gives her a custom yacht feel.

The light and stiff GRP construction gives her excellent performance in light winds and upwind, and helps to cut through waves with minimal pounding. Two Yanmar diesel engines, each with 29 hp and sail-drive propulsion, provide a maximum speed of 8 knots and a cruising range of 520 nautical miles.

The engines have accumulated 2,096 running hours. With a beam of 7.2 meters and a draft of only 0.9 meters, this sailboat is suitable for both coastal waters and longer passages.

The accommodation offers four cabins with a total of 12 berths and a headroom of 2.00 meters. The air draft is 19.50 meters, meaning most bridges on inland waterways are not an obstacle.
